Liebe Leser,

Es ist wieder so weit: Seit Anfang der Woche steht unser neues Bottling bereit. Und wieder sind tatsächlich einige Schätze dabei, die wir unseren Kunden nicht vorenthalten wollen. Nach den ausgezeichneten neuen Abfüllungen aus der Duthie's Serie sind nun auch einige Besonderheiten in Fassstärke nachgerückt. Auch hier haben wir wieder zwei Abfüllungen, die aus direkt aufeinander folgenden Fassnummern stammen, so daß der gediegene Bowmore–Liebhaber vortrefflich darüber streiten kann, welcher der beiden Abfüllungen mehr Rauch und weniger Torf am Gaumen hinterlässt.

Ergänzt wird das ganze unter anderem mit einer neuen Abfüllung eines Littlemill aus der Closed Distilleries Serie. Viel Spaß bei der Auswahl!

Das neue Bottling:

SPEYSIDE

Glen Moray–Glenlivet Distillery (Rumwood) 1992 · 17Y/O 57% 0,7l für 61 €
Nose: Rich and spicy, strong notes of cloves coming through closely followed by watermelon and bananas and a slight hint of sherbet.
Palate: A rich and sweet whisky with strong flavours of fruity sweets suchas opal fruits, very easy to drink indeed.
Finish: Long smooth and sweet with some evidence of spices.

Glen Spey–Glenlivet Distillery 1995 · 15Y/O 56.1% 0,7l für 56 €
Nose: Masses of sweet vanilla, toffee and fudge immediately tickles the nose before a more creamy, fruity and woody character enters.
Palate: Beautifully warming with a strong presence of ginger nut biscuits, parma violets and orange marmalade.
Finish: Warm, sweet and long.


NORTH HIGHLAND

Balblair Distillery 1990 · 20Y/O 53% 0,7l für 64 €
Nose: Full of citrus with some floral notes evident. Earthy and wholesome followed with lots of sweet vanilla.
Palate: Bread and butter pudding comes to mind, mixed with buttery toffee. A nice round and well balanced whisky.
Finish: Gentle vanilla with a pleasant peppery tingle on your tongue.

Tomatin Distillery (Sherrywood) 1994 · 16Y/O 53.6% 0,7l für 58 €
Nose: Beautifully rich with dark fruits such as dates and figs present.Sweet apple juice aromas blend nicely with raisins and cloves.
Palate: Masses of caramel and syrup, like home baked caramel shortbread. Freshly cut grass with some sweet oak flavours seeping through.
Finish: More caramel sweetness, an endless sweet finish.


SOUTH HIGHLAND

Glengoyne Distillery 1996 · 14Y/O 55.9% 0,7l für 54 €
Nose: Custard and cream shortly followed by vanilla and strawberry sponge. A complete fudge and toffee festival like Werthers original sweeties.
Palate: Very fruity, with over ripe bananas dominating at first. Warm vanilla pears and green apples towards the end.
Finish: Continuing toffee mixed with notes of dunnage warehousing.


EAST HIGHLAND

Glengarioch Distillery (S) 1991 · 18Y/O 50.3% 0,7l für 57 €
Nose: A very waxy and oily presence, sticky toffee pudding with almondsand ripe nectarines.
Palate: Full of Seville oranges mixed with the richness of treacle. A sweet very well balanced whisky.
Finish: Oranges and toffee gently showing on the finish. An easy dram to enjoy.


LOWLAND

Bladnoch Distillery 1990 · 20Y/O 52.2% 0,7l für 64 €
Nose: A smooth but quite closed whisky, some subtle floral and grassy notes.
Palate: Becomes lively and vibrant with the addition of water. Heather honey, demerara sugar and home made shortbread dance on your tongue.
Finish: A nice warm finish lasting a long time.


ISLAY

Bowmore Distillery (Cask 20190) 1997 · 13Y/O 55.6% 0,7l für 54 €
Nose: Sacks of coal! Soot and tar taking second place to the coal. Sweetness of banana coming through adding another level.
Palate: Bonfire night, tastes of ash, charcoal very evident. Smoked seafood such as mussels adding as salty tang to the taste.
Finish: This is a great example of Bowmore, the gentle coal flavour lingers on for a long time mixed with sweet banana.

Bowmore Distillery (Cask 20191) 1997 · 13Y/O 56.4% 0,7l für 54 €
Nose: Smoked cheese with oat cakes. A very savoury whisky with hints of toffee sweetness.
Palate: Fizzles on the tip of the tongue; strong notes of damson fruit. A very sweet whisky with just a faint nudge of coal present.
Finish: Gentle coal smoke fills your mouth nicely, followed by some fruitiness.

Bruichladdich Distillery 1991 · 19Y/O 56.9% 0,7l für 64 €
Nose: This whisky is very nutty, full of marzipan and buttery nuts with a hint of salt.
Palate: A lovely oily whisky that coats your mouth nicely. Cream soda fizzing on the tip of the tongue with warm apple pie giving a lasting impression. Sherbet and Scottish shortbread in abundance.
Finish: A pretty whisky, greatly balanced with a nice long finish.

CLOSED DISTILLERIES

Littlemill Distillery Sherrywood 1991 · 19Y/O 58.1% 0,7l für 89 €
Nose: Rich walnut and marzipan. A very nutty dram with clear evidence of sherry maturation.
Palate: Very rich treacle. Chocolate covered walnuts with american cream soda adding another level of flavour.
Finish: Quite a meaty whisky with hints of vegetable stock present.

Dazu gesellen sich noch der eine oder andere neue Rum. Unter anderem gibt sich ein 11 Jahre alter kubanischer Rum die Ehre. Wie vielleicht nicht jedem bekannt ist, so sind Rums aus Kuba (mit Ausnahme von Havanna Club) sehr selten und schwer zu bekommen. Neu in der Familie ist ein Rum aus Haiti.

RUM

Cuban Rum · 11Y//O 46% (Green Lable) 0,7l für 39 €
Nose: Pleasantly rich with cloves and eucalyptus. Very sweet with hints of cough medicine and olbas oil.
Palate: Very syrup like with strong flavours, icing sugar and eucalyptus.

Haitian Rum · 5Y/O 46% (Green Lable) 0,7l für 32 €
Nose: Coffee and cream with strong hints of dark chocolate. Evidence of marzipan and sweet toasted almonds.
Palate: Strong flavours of brown sugar and honeycomb with a complimentary caramel
taste.

Panama Rum · 12Y/O 46% 0,7l für 39 €
Nose: Strong marzipan with notes of caramel and buttery toffee. Sweet nougat with notes of chocolate.
Palate: A very sweet rum with lots of flavours from demerara sugar, toffee and vanilla. It is an enjoyable rum with a pleasant mouthfeel.

Demerara MPM from Uitvlugt Distillery, Guyana 1998 · 12Y/O 62.9% 0,7l für 54 €
Nose: Strong hints of cinnamon mixed with tobacco leaves. Beautiful aromas of Christmas cake, yet with some sweet aniseed evident.
Palate: Abundance of sweet liquorice with ground pepper like finish.

Nebenbei haben wir auch neue Tastingtermine festgelegt. Unsere Tastings erfreu(t)en sich sogar bei sommerlichen Temperaturen großer Beliebtheit. Da der Herbst naht, und das wahre Whiskywetter somit näher rückt, haben wir noch die eine oder andere Veranstaltung ergänzt.

Bei den Thementastings werden jeweils neun ausgewählte Whiskys zu dem jeweiligen Thema vorgestellt. Wir berücksichtigen hier auch besondere Highlights und rare Whiskys. Die genauen Programme werden ca. einen Monat vor den jeweiligen Tastings festgelegt.

Alle Tasting finden bei uns im Laden statt und beginnen um 19 Uhr. In der Pause wird immer ein kleiner Imbiss gereicht. In der Regel enden die Tastings zwischen 22:30 und 23 Uhr.
